GOOD FOLK REALLY BEGAN IN BEAUTY SCHOOL
From the moment Alison began her journey of becoming a hairstylist, she dreamt of one day opening her own salon—though the details of how and when remained uncertain. After spending four years in a commission salon in Long Beach, the opportunity presented itself. Alison met Cali, an Esthetician who shared the same work ethic and aspirations. One day, while chatting, Cali kind of joked about opening a salon together. It turned out to be the moment that totally changed their paths forever. This seemingly casual comment set the wheels in motion. In just a year, amid hours of brainstorming, planning, designing, shopping, demolition parties, and the delicate balancing act of family life, GoodFolk Hair + Skin came into existence, officially opening its doors in 2016.
Good Folk was the heart and soul of two passionate women who had the dream of opening a salon that was aesthetically beautiful and yet warm and comfortable. A haven where everyone feels welcome, offering top-notch customer service alongside exceptional hair and skin services. Step into the "living room," savor a cup of coffee, relax, and let your stylist work their magic, leaving you looking and feeling amazing.
While Good Folk began as a partnership and thrived in that dynamic, the pandemic prompted both owners to reassess and contemplate personal pursuits. This led to a decision to move forward separately. Cali realized her vision by opening Skin Trifecta, a stunning Skin Spa in Sunset Beach, while Alison steered Good Folk towards specializing as a Hair-only salon. Alison continues to pursue her dream of creating an inclusive space where all hair types are not just accommodated but celebrated…

In the bright beginnings of Alison’s journey as the official owner of Good Folk Salon, she envisions a future where the essence of Good Folk extends beyond the hair salon and into the community. She is rooted in growth and nurturing, cultivating a space where hairstylists can tap into their truest potential. Alison is on a mission to push boundaries, encouraging her talented team to step outside of the salon and soak up all sorts of inspiration, challenging them to think beyond the usual perspectives. She sees Good Folk as a lively hangout, not just a place where everyone sings the same tune. Alison believes Good Folk has the potential to evolve into a dynamic hub—a space for creativity, learning, individuality, and of course, a place where good hair happens.
